RM-Terex built 7,000 DZ-98 motor graders
— July 23, 2018, Russia, Moscow/Chelyabinsk. Chelyabinsk Road Construction Machines, part of RM-Terex, built its 7,000th DZ-98 motor grader. By the end of last year, DZ-98s accounted for 90% of the motor grader market.
The DZ-98 motor grader manufactured by Chelyabinsk Road Construction Machines, part of RM-Terex, offers unrivalled structural design features delivering robustness, high performance and cost-effectiveness, making it an ideal fit for road construction and mining operations.
The all-steel frame offers higher reliability as compared to welded square frames typical of rival machines. In comparison to hydrostatic drives of higher-priced heavy motor graders, the mechanical drive of the front axle provides both good traction in operations at northern latitudes and full front-to-rear synchronization.
The power and high performance specify the sales territory for these machines — they are most popular in Russian northern regions and in Kazakhstan with their large-scale construction and mining projects requiring large volumes of work in tough operating conditions.
The DZ-98 manufactured by Chelyabinsk Road Construction Machines combines reliability and the optimal cost of ownership. The unsophisticated and well-designed motor grader is easy to maintain and has a long service life. It has excellent maintainability: Component parts are manufactured in Russia, which means that spare parts are available to ensure that machines always remain in service-ready condition.
Up to 70 % of the operations are performed at the facilities of the Chelyabinsk Road Construction Machines fabricating and manufacturing all the basic steel structure and metal work for motor graders as well as their attachments, axles, transmissions, cabs, hood and access systems, hydraulic and electrical systems. The plant’s commitment to quality is proved by the expert report issued by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation.
The plant keeps on upgrading the DZ-98 model by improving the ergonomics of the operator’s workspace, by increasing efficiency and cost-effectiveness through application of new assemblies and components.
In 2018, the plant launched a repair and overhaul program for previously built DZ-98 motor graders. It provides repair services, using only original spare parts. All repair and overhaul operations are performed with participation of experienced engineers of the plant.
Mikhail Petushkov, Product Line and Strategy Development Director of RM-Terex:
“Although RM-Terex focuses on innovative business-line grader models, the DZ-98 has its established target market. Heavy motor graders remain the backbone of the grader product line and industry leaders. They will always be sought after by construction, road-building and mining companies.”
RM-Terex comprises large Russian machine-building plants: Tverskoy Excavator, Bryanskiy Arsenal, Chelyabinsk Road Construction Machines, and Zavolzhsky Crawler Vehicle Plant. The main products are: backhoe loaders, wheel and crawler excavators, motor graders, and amphibious all-terrain vehicles. The product line also includes front loaders, forklifts and industrial handlers.
The production complexes and engineering centers are located in Tver, Trans-Volga Region, Chelyabinsk, and Bryansk.
